Obituary of Danny Ray Danielson

Danny Ray Danielson, 75, of Gas, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 at Allen County Regional Hospital in Iola due to complications from bladder cancer leading to kidney and heart failure. He was born July 19, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas to Carl James and Ruth Marie (Ritchey) Danielson. He enjoyed playing basketball in his school days. He lived in several places due to his father's military service, including Hawaii and Alabama. He later served in the National Guard. He married Vesta Lynn Hoseney on January 22, 1976 in Independence, Kansas. He worked as a purchasing agent for several hospitals in Chanute, Coffeyville, Bay City, Texas and eventually Iola, where he also worked at the Iola Pharmacy, Russell Stover Candies, and USD 257 as a bus driver. He enjoyed working on his own farm, gardening, mowing, and spending time in nature. He liked playing the Powerball and Kansas Lottery as well as the slots in the casinos every once in a while. He chewed Red Man Gold and liked his iced tea on his front porch, watching birds and other wildlife. He will long be remembered for his visits with family, neighbors and good friends. He is survived by his wife, Vesta, of the home, a grandson, Danny Robert Danielson of Georgia, a brother, Carl James Danielson of Georgia, brother in law, R. Carl Hoseney of Manhattan, Kansas, a sister in law, Jolene Toscano of Denver, Colorado, nieces Sarah Wieck and family of North Dakota, Wanda Morpheth and family of Georgia, and Ritchey Dyker and family of Georgia, a nephew Corey Danielson and family of Alabama, and faithful dog, Max. Danny was preceded in death by a son, Danny, two daughters, Kristina Lynn Ramsay, and Becky Stanley, by his parents, and a brother, Jerry. A memorial service will be Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Iola. His remains will be returned to the earth at the family farm in a private ceremony later.
