Obituary of Edith B Hardesty

Edith B. Hardesty, age 96, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Anderson County Hospital, Garnett. She was born April 5, 1921, in Coffey County, Kansas, the daughter of William and Wilda (Welborn) Sumner. Edith married Max Hardesty on April 2, 1941 in Ottawa, Kansas. This union was blessed with six children. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Ottawa. Edith took pride in raising her children. She never had a bad word to say about anyone, and was loved and respected by all in her family. Edith will be missed by all who knew her. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max Hardesty; one son, John Hardesty; and three daughters, Kathy McCoy, Mary Jackson, and Aleta Hardesty. She is survived by sons, Edwin Hardesty and wife Linda, Harold Hardesty and wife Laurita; thirteen grandchildren, David, Tom, Patty, Kay, Ed Jr., Staci, Grant, Marlena, Kirsti, Nathan, Shane, April and Max; twenty-six great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Harold Sumner Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, July 31, 2017, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., on Monday afternoon at Yates Center Cemetery, Yates Center, Kansas. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday morning one hour prior to the service.
