Obituary of Dale R. Milner

Dale R. Milner, age 76, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at his home.

He was born on May 17, 1941, at Lawton, Oklahoma, the son of Burle Milo and Willie Bea (Hyden) Milner. Dale's father served in the Air Force, his service took the family to Lawton, Oklahoma, Yokota Air Force Base in Japan, Fairfield, California, and Salina, Kansas before the family moved to Lee's Summit, Missouri. He graduated from Lee's Summit High School. Following high school, Dale began working on constructing Minute Man missile silos in Montana as a welder. Throughout his career, he worked on construction projects for missile sites and power plants in Kansas, Arkansas, Colorado, Michigan, Nevada, California, Georgia, and Wisconsin. Dale retired in 1992 after working as a startup project engineer. Dale was a private pilot, flying his plane to various projects that he worked on throughout the country. Dale was united in marriage to Mary Mader on December 17, 1988, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas. Dale enjoyed horses, hunting and fishing. He was an accomplished welder.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Kay Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Milner, of the home; his sons, David Milner and family of Welda, Kansas; Terry Milner and wife, Shelly, and family of Mayview, Missouri; Tim Milner and Dustin Milner of Garnett; daughter, Chris Ann McPherson and family of Grain Valley, Missouri; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 22, 2017, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Scipio, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 219 S. Oak Street, Garnett, Kansas.
