Rebecca "Becky" Sue Stroman, age 39, of Paola, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at her home. She was born February 23, 1978 in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Bernard G. "Bernie" and Barbara (Lanzrath) Gilner. She grew up in Paola, attending school at Holy Trinity, and Paola High School. Following high school she began working at Lake Mary Center in Paola. During her seventeen years with Lake Mary she worked as a lead para, morning dress coordinator, and SCM trainer. In August of 2013, Becky began working as lead para of the Life Skills Program at Osawatomie High School. She was an original member of this program and she is credited as being one of the driving forces behind its creation. Becky married William Stroman on September 29, 2007 at Paola, Kansas. They shared their home with their two beloved dogs, Marley and Mischa and one kitty, Chewey. Becky's first passion was the young adults and children she worked with and it was followed closely by her love of animals. Becky provided respite care for several area children over the years. She also worked for 13 years at the VFW, Post #3712 in Paola. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Her caring heart always kept her busy through countless hours of volunteer work or just lending a hand to someone who needed it. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernie Gilner on November 18, 2010. Becky is survived by her husband, Will Stroman, of the home; her mother, Barbara Gilner of Paola, Kansas; three sisters, Dena Lawhead and husband Joe of Gardner, Kansas, Tammy Daulton and husband Ricky of Osawatomie, Kansas; Tracy Bryant and husband Scott of Paola, Kansas; grandparents, John and Irmina Lanzrath of Parker, Kansas; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 19, 2017, at St. John's Catholic Church, Greeley, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 219 S. Oak Street, Garnett, Kansas 66032. A celebration of Becky's life will be held at the VFW in Paola on Sunday, May 21, 2017 beginning at Noon. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Becky Stroman Memorial Fund.
