Obituary of Clifford Orval Jones
Clifford Orval Jones, age 97, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Brookdale of Overland Park.
He was born March 31, 1920, in Colony, Kansas, the son of Maurice and Dora (Johnson) Jones. Cliff was a Staff Sargent in the Army Air Corp from 1943-1945 in the 410th Bomb Squad of the 94th Bomb Group as an ammunition handler. He was a part of the air offensive in Normandy and the Rhineland.
Cliff married Clara Grace Willson December 27, 1950 in the Methodist Parlor in Garnett, Kansas. He worked his entire career as a railroad engineer. Cliff lived in Garnett, Kansas and Prairie Village, Kansas. He was a master bridge player, an avid collector of coins and collector plates. Cliff was a member of First Christian Church of Garnett, KS
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Grace Jones on January 18, 2017; four siblings, Alfred Jones, Howard Jones, Mable Knoll, and Evelyn Reiter.
Cliff is survived by his sister-in-law, Phyllis Bernard (John), nephews Greg Bernard (Lisa), Trent Bernard, Richard Jones (Lisa), Larry Reiter, Jim Knoll (Billie) and niece Cathie Feese (Larry).
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Garnett Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas.
