Obituary of Arlene Thornhill
Arlene Louise Thornhill, 93 of Iola passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Windsor Place in Iola.
Arlene was born October 16, 1923 in Akron, New York to Norman and Evelyn (Kaderli) Brewer. She graduated from Akron High School and thereafter worked in an airplane factory and later a weapons factory. She met Russell C. Thornhill and they were married in 1958.
After coming to Iola, she came to own and operate Thornhill's Liquor Store. She sold the store in 1996 due to her health. She and Russ also owned and managed Thornhill's Trailer Court. Arlene was a lifetime member of the P.T.A. and was involved in many Cub scouting and Boy scouting activities.
Survivors include her children Nancy Haas and husband Fred of Buffalo, NY, Teresa Turton and husband Roger also of Buffalo, David Cescon and wife Carol of Iola, Larry Thornhill and wife Teresa of Richmond, KS, and Harold Thornhill of Iola; daughters in law Barb Thornhill and Betty Thornhill; her longtime companion Carter Stiffler of Iola, a brother Roger Brewer and wife Doris of Akron, NY; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her sons Robert, Bill and Carl Thornhill, her parents, a brother Dorwin Brewer and 2 sisters, Beulah and Carol.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Her funeral service will be Thursday the 26th at 2:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery at Iola. Contributions in memory of Arlene may be made to Allen County Hospice and left with the funeral home.
