Obituary of Paul R. Scheibmeir

Paul R. Scheibmeir, age 85, of Iola, Kansas, passed away October 21, 2016 at the Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola. Paul was born on May 27, 1931 at Neosho Falls, Kansas. He was the first of two sons born to Herman J. and May C. (Henson) Scheibmeir. Paul grew up in the Neosho Falls and Piqua area, graduating from Neosho Falls High School and then from Allen County Community College. Paul served in the US Army from 1952-1954. He was stationed in Germany as a military police officer. Following his time in the service he returned to the family farm. Paul was a lifelong farmer northwest of Piqua. On August 22, 1981 Paul married Debra A. Ruckman in Iola. This union was blessed with two children, Joseph and Megan. They made their home in Iola until 1984, when they moved to their home west of Iola. Paul was member of the American Legion for over 56 years in Iola and Yates Center. He served as Post Commander in Iola in the late 1970's. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William "Bill" Scheibmeir; parents-in-law, Earl and Margaret Ruckman; brother-in-law, Dean Ruckman; and sister-in-law, Margaret "Jamie" Ruckman. He is survived by his wife Deb of the home, his children Joseph and Megan Scheibmeir of Iola, and numerous cousins. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas. The family will greet friends following the service. Inurnment will take place at Highland Cemetery in Iola at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to ACARF or Friends of Tri-Valley and left in care of the funeral home.
