Kevin Slover, age 37, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born May 4, 1979 in Lodi, California, the son of Susan Lynn Slover. The most important man who became his father was his grandfather Charles "Chuck" Slover, who raised him from an infant to a man. Kevin met Mariah Matthews in 2005 and married her on May 26, 2007 in Tuolumne, California. They divorced in 2013. He then married Erica Raddatz on October 31, 2014 in Ottawa, Kansas. He became a loving husband, a loving good father to her three boys, never once making any distinction between his children or not, to him, they were his and he loved them very much. He saved them, tried to save Erica and passed away a hero. He had so many things in his life stacked against him, and he kept pushing on, the Lord had a plan for him and it was finally time to bring him home to Heaven. You couldn't ask for a better hero with a heart so generous. He was a member of the E Clampus Vitas Brothers Mutuca Chapter 1849 in California. He sponsored the saving of historic buildings, building local monuments, preservation of history, scholarship programs and the care and protect of the ECV Widders and Orphans. He worked for Berto-Sasco as a repair man out of Twain Harte, California, then Insight Manufacturing out of Murphys, California as a shipping clerk. Kevin loved to read. He always had a book in his hands or his pocket. He loved to play pool, shoot darts and visit with the old timers in the early mornings at the coffee shop. He loved his family and friends dearly. He was preceded in death by wife, Erica Raddatz on September 13, 2016; his mother, Susan Lynn Slover; and grandmother, Julie Marie Slover. Kevin is survived by his grandparents, Charles and Ruth Slover of Grove, Oklahoma; one brother, John Slover and wife Crystal of Nipomo, California; and one sister, Jean Slover of Grover Beach, California; three aunts, Jerry Ellis of Talladega, Alabama; Barbara Mayfield of Nipomo, California; Caroline Elam of San Jose, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
