Obituary of Thomas L. Campbell
God called Tom to heaven on September 2, 2016 at the age of 73. He passed away from dementia at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett.
Tom was born February 14, 1943 to Orie and Mirtie (Tracy) Campbell in Larned, Kansas. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964 aboard the USS Outagamie County (LST-1073).
On June 12, 1965, Tom married Loretta Delaplain in Wichita, Kansas. He was employed by Koch Industries in Wichita for 26 years until he retired in 2005. They moved to Moran after he retired.
Tom enjoyed writing poetry, hunting and fishing, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Loretta of the home; 2 brothers, Alvin Campbell & wife, Sue of Lowell, Arkansas, and Victor Campbell & wife, Marilyn of Rogers, Arkansas; 2 sisters, Carolyn Swift of Wichita, KS and Louise McGarrah & husband, Larry of Rogers, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 4 siblings, Donald Speer, Pearl Branstetter, May Kresge and Gene Campbell.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wed., Sept. 7, 2016, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
