I am so very sorry for your loss.
I knew Susan as a dynamic Kansas community college library leader but also remember her vividly as a beautiful varsity cheerleader at JMHS. We had much fun reminiscing!
She amazed me with her broad range of interests, knowledge and activities. And always there was her devotion to her family and her kindness. I will truly miss her.

To Susan's Family & Friends,
Susan and I met 50 years ago when we were freshmen at UW-Madison. Susan's wisdom, energy, sense of humor and her caring and compassionate friendship have been a great gift to me throughout the years. I know Susan's love will live on in all the hearts and lives she so deeply touched.

Dan and Matt,
Your mother and I shared many wonderful times and some stressful times. We met in library school at Emporia State and became fast friends. She stayed with my husband and me during our weekend intensive classes and we always had a lot of fun. We shared so many thoughts and feelings during those times and I'll never forget. After we graduated we didn't see each other as often but stayed in touch. Your mom came to Topeka and stayed with me after I had skin cancer surgery and we just watched movies and laughed. She spoke at my husband's funeral and I'll always treasure that she did that. I always called her the "lovable nut" because of some of the escapades we had. I'll always remember her with fond thoughts and I wish I had been able to see her more recently but moving to Pennsylvania in 2008 made that difficult. I posted on her Facebook page in 2013 that she needed to take a trip to Pennsylvania and visit but she wasn't into Facebook. Take care of yourselves and I am so sorry that you don't have more time with your mother....it is precious! I am so happy that Hal and I got to know both of you also. She was so proud of you guys. Take care... Love, Linda Lillard

Dan and Matt,
Your mother was a beautiful spirit, a wonderful friend, an inspiring colleague. She and I traipsed through our library days and shared mother stories and pictures. When she spoke of her boys and Megan (which was often) she would light up. Susan's laugh was infectious. Those moments she stayed with me in Wamego and the night of Dan and Megan's wedding are treasures: laughing, crying, being frustrated and thankful, Susan showed me a lot of hope in this world. My heart hurts for you...peace and prayers, my friends.

I knew Susan as the NCCC Library Director and as a fellow chicken farmer. She had a delightful sense of humor and was sincerely compassionate toward others. I enjoyed her intelligence and wit as well as her thoughtfulness. My deepest condolences to her family: I know she will be missed.

To Susan's boys and families,
Susan was a dear colleague and a friend. Please accept my condolences. I'm so sorry she has died, as she made such an amazing contribution to the library world as a librarian in Kansas. I was also a newbie when she started at Neosho and we did a lot of figuring out libraries together in a time of incredible change. I loved the new look she brought to the college library, and her wisdom in thinking of the students first, at all times.
She spoke of you two boys often, and adventures in New York and Austrailia, of growing up and her pride in you, of a wedding...
I am saddened as I tried to contact her this spring and realized I had no infomation to track her down with. I even thought about stopping at her farm, but no longer had the address. It was so cool the day she showed me around! What a rich life she led.
I hope she realized how much she was missed by me and her other friends in libraries. I will miss her still.

Susan: I enjoyed my time spent with you at the library at Neosho County Community College. We shared laughs, gifts and of course the endless weeding of hard back books. E-Books had been introduced. We spent weeks taking down bookshelves and books. Except for the few Susan could not part with. We placed them in the "Secured Room" under lock and key. Down sizing her book collection was painful for her. I remember Susan taking me around when I was hired at the college to introduce me to the faculty and staff. When we finished she turned to me and said "I didn't realize that the college employed so many from Altoona-Midway. Susan liked to run her library quiet...so we did get an occasional..Shhhhhhh. I still have the photo booth picture of Susan, Debbie and I that was on campus at that time. To get all three of us in there at once....well you can imagine our expressions. So sorry that you leaving us, for now. Thanks for hiring me.
