Obituary of Rebecca Keller
Rebecca Casida Keller, age 70, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016, at KU Medical Center.
She was born at Carter Hospital, Garnett, Kansas on October 3, 1945, the youngest of four children born to Walter and Florence (Russell) Casida. She grew up in Garnett, graduating from high school there in 1963. In 1965 Rebecca was crowned Miss Garnett going on to win the swimsuit competition at the Miss Kansas pageant; she was also the Race Queen for the 1964 Lake Garnett Grand Prix. Following high school she earned her Bachelor's degree in education from Wichita State University. On August, 31, 1968 Rebecca married Wayne "Chip" Temple II. They made their home in Burden, Kansas, where two children were born to this union, Nathan and Allison. Rebecca was a homemaker and owned and operated a clothing store in Burden. They later divorced and Rebecca and the children moved to Kansas City in 1978. Rebecca was united in marriage to Robert Keller on August 8, 1992 in Overland Park, Kansas. After moving to Kansas City in 1978, Rebecca began working as a secretary for a commercial lighting company. She then went on to work in outside electrical sales in the Kansas City area for over 20 years, retiring from JCI Industries Inc. in Lee's Summit in November, 2014.
In 2004 Rebecca took up motorcycling, she and Bob enjoyed riding their motorcycles and taking trips together. She also enjoyed gardening, and attending the Pops Series at the Kauffman Performing Arts Center. Rebecca took pride in her home and was often busy with renovation projects. She took great joy in her granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frederick Casida; and sister, Jodi Payne.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Bob, of Overland Park; son, Nathan Temple and Carrie of Dixon, California; daughter, Allison Klein and Eric of Woodbury, Minnesota; two granddaughters, Taegan and Torin Klein; step-son, Scott Keller of Brookside, Missouri; brother, Mike Casida and Teresa of Bella Vista, Arkansas.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas with the family to greet friends following the services.
