Linda, Roger and family,
I was sorry to learn of Mildred's death. She was such a nice woman, and those of us who grew up on Kaw will remember her fondly. I still have a little step stool that Alfred made, and I cherish it. It brings back lots of memories of good old days on Kaw Ave. I am keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Beth (Watt) Anderson

Dear Family of Mildred's: I was very sorry to hear of Mildred's passing. Always sad regardless of how long someone lives and even when we know it is coming. I got to know Mildred while my dad (Russell) was living in Windsor also. I loved to talk to her about her farm days and hear stories of how early they had to get up to milk cows and to hear how very hard they had to work to keep things going. She had a very long eventful life and got to see a lot of changes in this world. I am sure she will be missed but remembered.
Good luck to all of the family.
Sincerely,
David Zornes

I have so many great memories of Mildred. I will always remember her, my sisters and I have so many stories about her. I am so grateful to you Linda, for going with me to see her, it means so much now. I, too will think of her when I see lemon drops (she sold me plenty, m&m's. Her favorite was maple nut.) My grandmother was her number one cohort, and the two of them together was too much fun. I remember they came to see me one day at my apartment in Garnett. I was studying then, and my apartment was a mess and I didn't want to let my grandma in because she would yell. Well, I had to because she had Mildred with her. And she gave me hell because I had stuff everywhere. I'll always remember Mildred sitting down on my couch and saying that she thought my apartment looked lovely, and then she explained to my grandmother that this is how young kids keep house nowadays, and she really liked it. I miss them both! I hope they're at Pizza Hut in heaven, having a great cup of coffee and sharing the latest gossip!

I was just thinking of Mildred and how her birthday was coming up. I loved her so much. We were neighbors on Kaw Avenue for 11 years before we moved across town. As a young wife and mother at that time I was in awe of how Mildred kept her house so clean. I always thought I needed to keep up with her which was not possible with Mildred's cleaning standards. ha! ha! She was a lovely person and such a great neighbor along with Alfred. Our children loved them too. Mildred will always be in my heart. My deepest sympathy to Linda, Roger and families.

Linda,
I'm sorry to hear about your mom's death. I was just thinking about her the other day. I smile when I think of her stories, how she loved to gossip. I enjoyed hearing the stories of her working at the grocery store, and how she moved to the house in Iola. She was determined to learn how to crochet, but just couldn't get the knack of it. That's ok, because she could never teach me to knit either!! I certainly enjoyed having coffee and visits with your mom.

I will always think of lemon drops, buttered noodles, and weeping willows when I think of Mildred. I have always thought of her as my own grandma. I've never known life without her. Sorry we can't be there for the funeral but thinking and praying for you all.
