Phyllis Pearl Gordon, age 78, of Colony, Kansas, died December 19, 2008 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. She was born on July 12, 1930, in Independence, Kansas, the daughter of Jess and Beulah (Sheffield) Owen. She graduated from Independence High School and attended Independence Junior College. She married Junior Kenneth Gordon on August 24, 1948 in Bentonville, Arkansas. This union was blessed with two children, Rick and Connie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Beulah Owen; her husband, J.K. Gordon on May 24, 2008; one son, Rick Gordon in 1998; and a son-in-law, Steve Gillaspie in 2005. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Connie Gillaspie of Carmel, Indiana; one daughter-in-law, Sheri Gordon of Orlando, Florida; a brother, Don Owen of Smith Center, Kansas; four grandchildren, Tyler Gillaspie; Cameron Gillaspie; Jennifer Sewing; Janelle Celano; and five great grandchildren. A Memorial Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Colony Lions Club.
