Obituary of Hazel Yetzbacher

Hazel E. Yetzbacher, 86, of Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. Hazel was born February 24, 1923 in Dawson, Nebraska the daughter of Charles A. and Martha E. (Harbour) Peres. At the age of five, she moved to Iola with her parents. She attended Iola schools and graduated from Iola High School in 1941. After graduation she enrolled in Stewart's Beauty Academy in Topeka where she received her cosmetology certificate. She returned to Iola and was employed at Etta Stewart's Beauty Crest and then Swirls and Curls before opening her own salon in 1958 which she named the Beauty Spot. She retired in June of 2001 after working sixty years in the cosmetology profession. On September 6, 1942, Hazel married William M. "Bill" Yetzbacher and he preceded her in death on January 13, 1960. She was a member of the Kansas and National Hairdressers Associations and a 1949 Charter Member of the Magic Circle Hairdressers Club in Iola which dissolved in the 1980's. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Bowling Association and the Ladies Elks. SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter: Terese L. "Terry" Yetzbacher of Leavenworth, Kansas Close Friend and Companion: Al Weiland Numerous Nieces & Nephews She was preceded in death by 7 brothers, Howard, Lawrence, Ernest, Marion, Ottie, Otto & James Peres and by 6 sisters, Retha, Inez, Mabel, Lois, Lennis and Opal. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. The Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas MEMORIAL: Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
