Obituary of Philip Weide

Philip L. Weide, 68, of Linn Creek, Missouri, formerly of Iola, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Ozark Rehabilitation & Heath Center in Osage Beach, Missouri. Phil was born July 15, 1943, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Harvey and Florence (Jackson) Weide. He grew up in Iola. On August 6, 1960, Phil married Patricia "Pat" Hall in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas until 1966 when they moved to Iola. Phil worked for the City of Iola and helped his parents with the family business, Weide Cemetery Inscriptions. He later worked as a lineman for Monarch Cement Company until he and his wife started the D of K Vault Plant in 1980. They sold the plant in 2002 and built RV & Storage of Iola. They sold that business and moved to Linn Creek in 2007 where they own and operate Ozark Trails RV Park & Storage. Phil was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Iola Masonic Lodge, Shrine, Hardly Able Fire Company, Iola Elks and a number of car clubs. He enjoyed corvettes. SURVIVORS: His wife of 51 years: Pat Weide of the home 2 Sons: Philip Weide, Jr. of Linn Creek, MO and Bryan Weide of Iola, KS 4 Grandchildren: Charley New & husband, Jeremy of Derby, KS, Chanel Colon & husband, Kevin of Eudora, KS, Mackenzie and Nickolas Weide both of Woonsocket, RI 2 Great Grandchildren: Emma New and Cameron Colon 1 Brother: Steve Weide & wife, Jeannie of Iola, KS Step-Father: Calvin Brodman of Yates Center, KS He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Lori Ann Weide, and twin grandchildren, Hunter and Brady Weide. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
