Evelyn L. Wilkins, 87, former area resident, died Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Royal Terrace Care Center in Olathe, Kansas. Evelyn was born May 18, 1921, on a farm south of LaHarpe, Kansas, the daughter of Laurence F. and Iva J. (Richmond) Kalm. She grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1940. In 1942, Evelyn married Dewey Caler and they made their home in Iola. They later divorced. In 1955, she married LeRoy Wilkins and they lived on several different farms in the LaHarpe, Colony, and Kincaid areas. In 1966, they moved to Sparks, Nevada. Following his death in 1980, she returned to Iola to live. In 2007 her health failed and she moved to Olathe to be near family. Evelyn was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Crain of Phoenix, Arizona A number of grandchildren She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Caler. Family and friends will meet at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, to leave for graveside services to be held at 2:00 p.m. in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Rev.
