Obituary of Margaret Webb
Margaret "Peg" Webb, age 100, died Friday, October 2, 2015, at Peterson's Healthcare in Osage City, Kansas
She was born September 8, 1915 in Allen County, to Walter Joseph and Drusilla (Stewart) Crook. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1933 and Allen County Community College in 1935.
She married Herbert M. Webb, Jr. February 6, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri. He is deceased.
She lived in Kansas City, New York City, and Oakland, California and returned to Iola in 1949. She was secretary to the principal-dean of Iola High School and Junior College from 1949 to 1977. She was secretary to the superintendent of schools in Iola from 1977 to 1980 when she retired.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Iola over 50 years and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Osage City after moving to Burlingame in 1998.
In Iola she belonged to St. John's Altar Society, Music Club, Current Events Club, and the Dirt Diggers Garden Club. In Burlingame she belonged to St. Patrick's Altar Society and Saturday Afternoon Club.
She is survived by a son, Douglas M. Webb & wife, Judi of Dallas, Texas, and a daughter, Christine Shaffer & husband, Ron of Burlingame. Ten grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucene Arens and a brother, Walter Crook, Jr.
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, with visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
Memorial contributions may be made in Iola to: St. John's Church or Allen County Community College Scholarship Fund. In Burlingame to First Responders or St. Patrick's Church in Osage City.
