Obituary of Lloyd Weeks

Lloyd Dean Weeks, 78, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Kindred Hospital Northland, Kansas City, Missouri. Lloyd was born October 26, 1935, in Morris County, Kansas, the son of William Lloyd and Ruth Katherine (Vader) Weeks. He graduated from Dwight High School. On May 18, 1957, Lloyd married Anita W. Phillips in Miami, Oklahoma. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Greenland. Following his honorable discharge from the service, they made their home in Wichita where he worked at Boeing. The family moved to Emporia where they resided for 30 years. Lloyd was a power electrician and mechanic. He worked at Emporia Wholesale Coffee Co., Muckenthalers, Wolf Creek and was director of plant operations at St. Mary's Hospital in Emporia. In 1992, the family moved to Iola where Lloyd worked as director of plant operations at Allen County Hospital. He retired in May of 2013. During the years, Lloyd also operated his own small and foreign auto repair business. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, C.B. radio operating and was an expert on VW's. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Iola and had been a deacon at Westside Baptist Church in Emporia. SURVIVORS: His wife of 56 years: Anita Weeks of the home 5 Children: Mark Weeks of Iola, Debra Staley & husband, Philip of Parkville, MO, Victoria Geisler & husband, Jack of Iola, Angela Kaufman & husband, Tim of Virginia Beach, VA, and Rebecca Kelly & husband, Jeremie of Blue Springs, MO 1 Brother: Clifford Weeks of McLouth, KS 11 Grandchildren: Jack Geisler, Jr., Cassondra, Tarin & Raymond Geisler, Olivia & Ava Kaufman, Sydnie, Katlin, Alex, Makenna & Ian 6 Great Grandchildren: Isaiah, Zoey, Gabby, Karigen, Lulu & Zachiya He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Weeks. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tues., Feb. 11, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Wed., Feb. 12, at Harvest Baptist Church in Iola.
