Obituary of Beverly Tomlinson
Beverly Marie Tomlinson, 85, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, February 2, 2015, at her home.
She was born January 16, 1930, in Troy, Kansas, the daughter of Grover Franklin "Frank" and Maudie Marie (Denning) Wykert. She graduated from Troy High School. On September 15, 1950, Beverly married Richard W. "Dick" Tomlinson. After Dick completed his military duty they lived in St. Joseph, Missouri from 1952 until 1969 and then in Rushville from 1969 until 1976. They moved to several communities before coming to Iola in 1980. Dick preceded her in death on October 6, 2010.
Beverly enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Harmony Society, Allen County Regional Hospital Volunteers, and a volunteer at the Allen County Historical Society.
SURVIVORS:
3 sons: Steven of Rio Verde, Arizona, Kevin of Bradenton, Florida, and Gary of Iola
1 daughter: Lisa of Baltimore, Maryland
2 sisters: Betty Lou Jeschke of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Mary Frances Ratliff of San Diego, California
8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Wykert, and 2 sisters, Mona Lee Cozad and Georgia Gardner.
VISITATION: 1:00-3:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Iola, prior to the service.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at the First Christian Church in Iola. Cremation will follow the services.
