I first saw Charley Turley when he was working at Allen County Hospital. I had no idea of his war record then. I knew nothing except this was a sinewy man (with a tattoo!) who treated dirt as if it was a personal enemy. In my twelve years in school with C.J. I was keenly aware of Charley's passion for bow hunting; one day in Jefferson School C.J. said bow hunting was part of his dad's blood. I think Charley lived life more passionately than most people. That was his blessing and that was his curse, perhaps.

Christina, Jill, CJ, Just want to send my thoughts and prayers. You, of course, but all the rest of us that knew your dad and have some pretty vivid memories of him are saddened at his passing. I am sure there will be no one that can ever fill his corner of our world. His humor, his "p___ and vinegar", I just can't even bring to mind the phrases to describe him without shaking my head and smiling. May God hold you guys and squeeze you for me.
