So sorry to hear of your loss. I worked for Bob at the law office in Iola while I was going to college at ACCC. I respected your father and enjoyed my time working there. I now teach social studies in a Jr. High classroom and there are many times that I think back to my experiences that I had in the law office and the discussions we would have in the office. I will treasure the memories.

Our sincerest condolences from CT. My wife Judy and I met Bob on a number of occasions. He was a gentleman and a gentle man. We enjoyed his hospitality and we know that he will be greatly missed in Iola, Allen County and all over Kansas.

I am so sorry about Uncle Bobby. He was such a sweet man and his love of family was obvious to all of us. I remember reading your moms Christmas letters when I would be at Sissy and Papa's house (John Carmel Talkington). I always enjoyed her sense of humor and it made me feel like I knew each of you even though we never really had the opportunity to get to know one another. I know you are all honored by the work he did and the legacy he leaves behind.

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing and that I did not learn of it until after the funeral. I considered Bob a good friend and mentor beginning when I was an intern with the Allen County Attorney in 1978 and later became an attorney in Chanute in 1980. Bob was always generous with his advice and experience and as a result, one of the most respected and liked attorneys in the State. This past Fall with Jayhawk football tickets near those of Bob and his family was special and Bob was quick to remind me he stayed for the end of the game when KU made its historic comeback against Colorado (we left early!) Bob will be sorely missed. He was someone we all looked up to and respected. His passing truly reflects the end of an era. Kent Pringle, Office & family

Family of Bob Talkington, I served with Bob in the State Senate, serving from 1975-84 in the House and 8 years in the Senate. My wife and I later lobbied Bob after my retirement from the legislature. As an Attorney-at-Law, I developed a good friendship with Bob, and also knew Donna well. I am saddened by the death of both of them, and wanted you to know what good people they both were, and what a great Senator Bob was. He represented his constituents well and worked honestly and tirelessly for the citizens of Kansas. He served with distinction, and had the courage to make difficult decisions when the need was present. You all can be very proud of both him and Donna. Our condolences to all of you. In college I worked for Frank Gaines in the Kansas Senate. Of course I knew Bob Talkington from the Presbyterian church. Bob was a Republican, Frank a Democrat. And they were giants in that chamber; sometimes disagreeing, sometimes not, but hearing their conversations behind the scenes was inspiring. I always addressed Bob as "Senator." He was so much more throughout his life, but that's how I remember him. I'm sorry he's gone but I'm grateful he was here.
