Obituary of Judith Thompson
Judith C. Thompson, 70, of rural Iola, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015, surrounded by her family at home.
Judy was born October 14, 1944, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the daughter of Bernard and Elenor (Longan) Ritter. She grew up in Stillwater and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1962. She married H.E. Holinsworth and the family moved to Humboldt, Kansas in 1973. She and H.E. later divorced.
Judy worked as an accountant in the area until opening her own firm, J & J Accounting, in Humboldt in 1977. She has been serving businesses and individuals in the area for over 35 years.
She and Freddie Leon Thompson were married in 1997 and they made their home at Iola. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2015.
Her memberships include Kansas Public Accountants Assn., Salem United Methodist Church, Humboldt Chamber of Commerce, Ladies of the Elks in Iola, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Judy served 8 years as a councilwoman for the City Of Humboldt and 2 terms as mayor. She had also served on the Consumer Advisory Panel for Kansas Gas and Electric.

1 Sister: Diana Clarke of Stillwater, OK
5 Grandchildren: Shannon (Andrew) Patterson of Iola, Lauren & Paige Holinsworth of Eureka, MO, and Aliza & Alivia Benedict of Pittsburg, KS.
4 Step-Grandchildren: Kenna (Thompson) Chesnut of Springfield, MO, Kyler Thompson of Pittsburg, Mia & Ami Thompson of Springfield, MO
1 Great Granddaughter: Blayke Patterson
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leon, and brother Gary Ritter.
VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
BURIAL: Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas
