Obituary of Delbert Smith
Delbert L. Smith, age 96, of rural Neosho Falls, Kansas, died Friday, October 28, 2011, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola, Kansas.
Delbert was born January 24, 1915, at Mapleton, Kansas, the son of Willard L. and Bertha Mae (Delzell) Smith. He grew up in the Allen and Bourbon County areas.
On December 24, 1938, Delbert married Bernice Peck at Erie, Kansas, and they made their home on a farm north of LaHarpe until 1943 when they moved to their farm northeast of Neosho Falls. Delbert has farmed and resided on that farm for 68 years. His wife preceded him in death on March 12, 2002.
Delbert enjoyed fishing, tending his cattle, watching wildlife and visiting with his neighbors.

He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Smith in 1996, 1 great great granddaughter, Ginnie Bertoncino, and three brothers, Dwight, Johnny and Bob Smith.
VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
BURIAL: Colony Cemetery, Colony, Kansas
