L. Maxine Smith, 80, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, September 5, 2011, at Ambassador Manor in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Maxine was born July 28, 1931, in Rippee, Missouri, the daughter of James Franklin "Frank" and Sylvia Daisy (Gregg) Prock. She moved to Gas City with her family. She married Robert E. Smith and they made their home in the Gas City area. They later divorced and he passed away in 1981. Maxine worked a number of years as a cashier for Self Service Grocery and then for I.G.A. SURVIVORS: Her 7 Children: Debbie Smith of Gas, KS, Wayne Smith of Catoosa, OK, Janie Smith of Tulsa, OK, Valerie Wagner of Iola, KS, Joe Smith of Broken Arrow, OK, Steven Smith of Iola, KS and Kevin Smith of Iola, KS 1 Brother: Richard Prock 10 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by a sister, Lora Hoover, and by 3 brothers, Buddy, Jay and Bill Prock. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at the LaHarpe Cemetery. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
