Mary Octavia Stewart (Little), age 87, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, June 5, 2009, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola. Octavia was born September 30, 1921, at Moran, Kansas, the daughter of Euell J. and Ada O. (Rodenburg) Weast. She grew up at Moran and was a member of the first high school graduating class in the new school in 1938. On June 1, 1942, Octavia married George T. Stewart in Iola. They made their home in Iola until 1951 when they moved to Raytown, Missouri. They made their home in several communities before returning to Iola in 1969. They owned and operated Milne & Mann Tire and Recapping Company. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1983. She enjoyed raising flowers, sewing and reading. SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Scott Stewart & wife, Elaine of Iola, KS 3 Grandchildren: Chrissy Powell & husband, Kenneth; Eric Stewart & fiance, Bridgette Nelson; and Doug Stewart 1 Great Granddaughter: McKenna Powell She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Paul Weast, and by a sister, Helen Crick. VISITATION: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola prior to leaving for graveside services. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, at Highland Cemetery in Iola. The Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
