Obituary of Stan Scoville

Stan Scoville, 69, of Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, doing what he enjoyed most, riding his bicycle on the Prairie Spirit Trail. Stan was born Sept. 5, 1945, in Lompoc, California, the son of Jess and Lottie (Hudoba) Scoville. He graduated from Iola High School and Pittsburg State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force. After receiving masters degrees from both Pittsburg State University and the University of Kansas, he taught physics and chemistry at Labette County High School. He retired from teaching in 2004, but continued doing research projects and writing of grants for Pittsburg State University. On March 19, 1994, Stan married Marlene Brummer Duke and they made their home in Iola. He was an avid bicycle rider. SURVIVORS: His wife: Marlene Scoville of the home 1 Step-Daughter: Leslie Duke & husband, Ryan Redyke of Tulsa, OK 1 Grandson: Rex He was preceded in death by his parents. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Iola.
