I've known Mike all my life. I went to school with Mike at Colony, although I was a year ahead of him in school. I remember Mike sitting at a booth at his folks drug store on a Saturday morning putting a model car kit together. He gave me a lot pointers like using a tooth pick to put glue on small items such as mirrors and windshields. After I moved back to Iola, Kansas in 1996, I found out that Mike lived in the house across the street from the church that I attended. We visited all the time and talk about cars and the things we use to do together as kids. I will miss Mike, as he was a very neat person, and was always willing to help anybody and everybody is he could. Good by Mike, Your good friend.

I met Mike while working at the Iola Pharmacy. As we began getting to know each other I had found out that he had going to school with my mother (Grayce Osborn-Powell). He would tell me stories of her and my grandfather. I wish that I worked there longer to get to know him better because he was such a great guy. I know he will be missed by myself and many more.

Mike & I grew up together as my grandma lived across the street from the Farris funeral home in Colony, KS. We had a lot great times playing "army" and all of the other kids games. I always loved to be invited into the funeral home during the summer because they actually had air conditioning. Wht an amazing experience.
He was good kid and was a kind and gentle man. So sad to learn of his passing. I guess we never know. My sypathies to his family.

Mike had a lot of fans in the Willis family. He worked for our father Max at the Stag Shop in Iola in the 70's before moving to the city. He was always a good guy to visit with and had a super nature. He had purchased his Austin Healey from my dad. Last time I talked to him he said he had the car 40 years now. We'll miss seeing him in it. I always asked him if he was done with my car yet to get the conversation started. You will be missed, Mike.

So sorry to hear about Mike, as we were just visiting with him at Mac Donalds a week or so ago. He never changed, still the same nice guy from school, as I went to school with Mike also at Colony.I remember one year having a New Year Eve party at the funeral home, It was fun.
Than getting to see him around was always a blessing, as he was always cheerful.
God watch over him please,

Mike was in the class ahead of me at Colony Elementary and High School. I remember him as a friend to one and all. Mike's sense of humor was legendary. His ability to have fun was ever present. Since I live in Alaska, I will not be able to attend services, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.

I wish I could have known Mike as an adult. My memories of him are at age 5. During the summer of '52 I stayed at his house to look after him while Flora and Gene were busy with the drugstore and the Funeral business. His picture now looks much like he did then, bright eyes, chubby cheeks, red hair. He was a charming, happy, independent child. I'm sure he didn't think he needed any supervision. We named our first child Mike, and I think they might have been a lot alike. We lost our son to cancer a year ago. Our Mike's great pleasure was not an Austin, but his motorcycle. I would like to think that the two of them are sharing stories now in heaven.
