Obituary of Robert Schmidt
Robert Junior "Teach" Schmidt, 77, a resident of Pinecrest Nursing Home in Humboldt, Kansas, died Sunday, November 29, 2009, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas.
Robert was born May 9, 1932, in Burke, South Dakota the son of John and Katy (Schroeder) Schmidt. He graduated from Burke High School and then served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his military duty he received a degree in education from the State University of South Dakota. He taught math for a number of years in Decauter, Nebraska.
He retired and moved to Sioux City, Iowa where he married Victoria Lee Tebo on December 31, 2001. They lived in Iowa before moving to Kansas.
Robert enjoyed music and played the organ, guitar and harmonica.

2 Step-Sons: Rodney Stroud of Bronson, Kansas and Vernon VanHouten, Jr. of Alvin, Texas
5 Step-Daughters: Sharon Barnhart of Chanute, Kansas, Marie White of Sioux City, Iowa, Denise Snavely of Iola, Kansas, Ann Johnson of Pleasanton, Kansas, and Laura McCall of Humboldt, Kansas
2 Brothers: Duane and Fred Schmidt both of Gregory, South Dakota
A number of step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence and Vivian.
SERVICE: Family and friends will gather at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, Kansas, at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 to leave for graveside services at 1:00 p.m. in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
