Kiyomi (Lisa) Gates, age 57, of Garnett, Kansas, died on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, in Garnett, Kansas. She was born on February 4, 1951, in Tokyo, Japan. She was a successful restaurant manager in Tokyo. She was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Gates, Sr., on August 16, 1983, in Tokyo, Japan. The couple moved to Holloman Air Force Base in September of 1983, where they remained until February of 1991. They lived in Erie, Kansas from 1991 until moving to their current home in Garnett in 1994. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents. Lisa is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Gates, Sr. of the home, two sons, Kenneth L. Gates and his wife, Katie, of San Antonio, Texas, and Steve Gates of Garnett; and one grandson, Hunter Michael Gates. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at the Garnett Cemetery in Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends prior to the graveside service at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, and sent in care of the funeral home.
