Obituary of Mary Potter
Mary Ellen Potter, 100, of Iola, Kansas, formerly of Chanute, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Windsor Place in Iola.
Mary Ellen was born March 11, 1914, at Redfield, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde and Mabel (Gunsaullus) Comstock. She grew up at Redfield and graduated from Ft. Scott High School in 1932. She worked at Great Western Insurance Company in Ft. Scott.
On November 20, 1938, Mary Ellen married Floyd Potter in Ft. Scott and they made their home in Chanute. They owned and operated Potter's Hatchery. Mr. Potter preceded her in death April 8, 1971. She moved to Iola in 2007.
She had been an active member of First United Methodist Church in Chanute for many years.

2 Sons: Dr. Donald Potter & wife, Lynda of Belleview, WA and Dr. Ellis Potter & wife, Jane of Iola, KS
1 Brother: Leon Comstock of Springfield, MO
2 Sisters: Dorothy Holder of Fox Island, WA and Vera Johnston of Joplin, MO
7 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Harold Comstock.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola.
BURIAL: Memorial Park Cemetery on east 14th Street in Chanute, Kansas
