Obituary of Larry Powers
Larry Otto Powers, 66, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Wichita.
Larry was born June 15, 1949, in Akron, Colorado, the son of Glenn Estes and Wilma Lee (Rose) Powers, Sr. He grew up in Iola where he attended school. Larry served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. He made his home in Chanute and worked as a welder at Churchill's and later was a truck driver for Consolidated Oil Well Services.
Larry was a member of the Chanute American Legion. He enjoyed being outside fishing.
Survivors include his son, Otto Powers of Chanute, step-son, Rick Weiland & wife, Mindy of Wichita, step-daughter, Melissa Weiland-Niemeyer & husband, Steve of Dallas, TX, and 3 grandchildren, Kora, Jenavie & Cole Powers.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside inurnment services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at the LaHarpe Cemetery in LaHarpe, Kansas.
