R. Harold Rice, 90, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, December 12, 2014, at Allen County Regional Hospital in Iola, Kansas. Robert Harold Rice was born November 11, 1924, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the son of Doctor Reuben and Jimmie Ethel ( Myers ) Rice. He graduated from Talala High School in Oklahoma and spent most of his life raising cattle. Harold worked with his brother several years before marrying Mary Lucille McGill on July 18, 1952. They made their home on a ranch near Chelsea, Oklahoma, until 1957 when they moved to a farm on the Neosho River northwest of Iola, Kansas. In 1983 he opened Rice Feed in Iola which he operated for years. They moved into Iola to live in 2010. SURVIVORS: His wife of 62 years, Lucille 2 sons: Gary Rice of Austin, Texas and Rick Rice and his wife Alfy of rural Iola 1 daughter: Tanya Beyer and husband Kent of Gridley 1 brother: Bobby Eugene Rice of Cleveland, Ohio 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters Cremation has taken place.
