Obituary of Beckye Parker
Beckye Sue Parker, 58, of Iola, Kansas, died Thursday, December 26, 2013, at the Allen County Regional Hospital in Iola.
Beckye was born December 20, 1955, in Bethany, Oklahoma, the daughter of Gene and Peggy Jean (Davis) Maitlen. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Putnam City West High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Oklahoma State University and began working for the State of Oklahoma.
On February 14, 1983, Beckye married John D. Parker at her parent's home in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Waynoka, Oklahoma where she operated the flower shop they owned, Flowers And Things. They later moved to the family farm at Cushing, Oklahoma. In 2005, they moved to Iola. Beckye worked as a teacher for at-risk students at Iola High School for several years. She was currently the special needs coordinator for SEK Library Systems in Iola.
Her memberships include Trinity United Methodist Church, Kappa Alpha Chapter of Phi Tau Omega Sorority and she was a Noble's Lady.

2 Brothers: Randall Maitlen & wife, Mary of Cushing, OK and Tony Maitlen & wife, Susan of Albuquerque, NM
1 Sister: Linda Mount & husband, Mike of Edmond, OK
2 Grandsons: Richard and Kirk
1 Granddaughter: Keilyjo
She was preceded in death by her father.
Cremation has taken place.
KANSAS MEMORIAL VISITATION: 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at the Trinity United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Iola, KS
OKLAHOMA MEMORIAL VISITATION: 2:00-4:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at the First Christian Church, 300 E. Moses St., Cushing, OK
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Hospitals for Children or Kappa Alpha Chapter of Phi Tau Omega Sorority
