My sympathies to the entire Percy family. I feel extremely fortunate to have played football for Coach Percy at Shawnee Mission East High School from '96 to '99. I also echo the sentiment that many others in his guestbook here have expressed: my life was certainly shaped for the better by having known this great man. The lessons that he taught and the work ethic he instilled in his players prepared us not only for football, but for life. He will be sorely missed. -Don Williams (SME '99) p.s. Wonderful job by the family of compiling this obituary - it was a pleasure to read and learn so much about Coach.

I was fortunate to play for Coach Percy during his first coaching position at Pleasanton High School 1957 and 1958. Although the first year wasn't terrific, Coach did a great job teaching us how to play the game. His second year was great as PHS was the league co-champs. I remember Coach and Mrs. Percy hosting the team for dinner before home games. The food was wonderful and the time together inspiring. I have often thought of Coach through the years and wondered why he thought I could play quarterback. He never gave up on me and his hunch turned out ok. Ron Rardin Pleasanton Blu Jays '57 and '58

Coach Percy was my favorite government teacher. He was a great coach at Pleasanton High. I am certain this picture was the one of him that I put in our high school annual. He was a great person and will be missed by all those who knew him.

Coach Percy was my senior year American Government teacher at Hutchinson High School. Our football team also won the Ark Valley that year, so he is fondly remembered by the entire Class of '69. As for the teaching, I got out of college with a degree in political science, so he must have done something right! Another good guy is gone and will be missed.

I was very sorry to hear about coach Bill. I was in his class of 57 in Pleasanton, Ks. When Bill was a coach at Ottawa University, I drove a charter bus, & hauled him & team to several games, & we always had a good conversation. He was a good man.

Please accept my condolences. I played football for Coach Percy from 1969-1971 when at Hutchinson High School. I consider his influence in my life as "Life Changing". He taught me more about integrity and commitment than any other adult. When he returned to Hutchinson to coach the Hutch Juco team, I made it a point to visit and thank him for the impact he made on my life. I honestly don't think he recalled me, but it didn't and still doesn't matter. He molded my character and I am thankful to have had him in my life. May God Bless Glenn Percy.

Dear coach Percy, thank you for teaching me how to drive. My taxi skills are truly appreciated by my children today. You always taught us to reach for what ever OUR goals were no matter what others thought we should be striving for. Thank you for that lesson! My condolences to your family.

Coach, friend, leader, biggest fan. There aren't enough words to describe what you've meant to us throughtout the years. You've been by our side through thick and thin. Whether its a word(s) to congratulate, Or a swift kick in the rear to modivate. You've brought us strength when we were weak, You've given us courage when we felt meek. Always pushing us to do our best, To never give up until we've beaten the rest. You taught us how to be a team, And to strive for our goals, No matter how impossible they seem. We've been pushed, yelled at, preached at, too, But the more that this happened, the more we grew. We will carry you with us for the rest of our lives, Hearing that voice encouraging us to overcome any strife. It's hard to say good-bye, but we want you to know, how thankful we are for that friend we call Coach. Kirk Snyder

Coach Percy took the head coaching position just prior to my Senior year at Ottawa University. I hold him with high regard, as he took a pretty defeated program and made us hold our heads high and turned us into leaders. His wit and sense of humor made what could have been a bad year into a year of the turnaround. I am sorry to hear of his passing but think about the man and his message often. Godspeed Coach
