Obituary of Vernon Moore
Vernon L. "Bill" Moore, 83, of Iola, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bill was born August 23, 1926, at Lone Elm, Kansas, the son of William A. and Vergie (Anderson) Moore. He graduated from Lone Elm High School.
On June 29, 1947, Bill married Eunice E. Gillaspie. They made their home in Lone Elm where he operated a gas station. In 1951, they moved to DeSoto, Kansas where they worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant. They moved to Iola in 1955 and he owned and operated a gas station on State Street known as Moore's Sinclair Service. His wife helped him with the bookkeeping. He added bulk fuel delivery service which operated as Moore Oil Company and also began distributing auto supplies which grew into the business known as Moore's Auto Supply. They retired in 1990 and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2002.
Bill was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the Iola Lion's Club.

3 Grandsons: Aaron, Zachary and Jordan Moore
5 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Marie Gilliland.
VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Fri., Jan. 22, 2010, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Iola. The Rev. Gene McIntosh will officiate.
BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, KS
MEMORIAL CHOICES: Calvary United Methodist Church or American Heart Association
