Obituary of Dorothy Montague

Dorothy B. Montague, 79, of Garnett, Kansas, formerly of Iola, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Ottawa, Kansas. Dorothy was born May 19, 1933, at Rose, Kansas, the sixth of twelve children born to Lee Roy and Sylvia Myrtle (Jones) Wright. She grew up on the family farm near Buffalo, Kansas. She was working in Burlington, Kansas when she met Bob Montague at her brother Lou's shop. They married at Iola, Kansas in 1950 and started their marriage near Sharp, Kansas. They moved to Burlington where Bob ran a welding shop for several years. After retiring they bought a farm near Iola. Dorothy worked at TG&Y in Iola for many years. After 42 years of marriage, Bob preceded her in death in 1992. Dorothy enjoyed her flowers and gardening, hunting and fishing, homemaking and her family. SURVIVORS: 3 Children: David Montague of Elsmore, KS, Penny Austin & husband, Mike of Ottawa, KS and Paul Montague of Garnett, KS 2 Brothers: Jim Wright of Ft. Worth, TX and Kenneth Wright of Carlyle, KS 2 Sisters: Patty Doolittle of LaHarpe, KS and Gayle Engle of Aliceville, KS 13 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, DeAnna Lynn, 5 brothers, Robert, Chester, Louis, Leroy & Delbert Wright and 2 sisters, Virginia Cole and Elsie Crouse. VISITATION & GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, for visitation before leaving for graveside services in the Gas Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. MEMORIAL: St. Luke's Hospice Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
