Virgil D. Page, Sr., 71, of rural LaHarpe, Kansas, died Friday, June 5, 2009, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Virgil was born July 7, 1937, in Norwich, Kansas, the son of Robert H. and Frieda M. (Mayer) Page. He graduated from high school in Wichita and then served in the United States Marine Corps. On August 27, 1960, Virgil married Marilyn Dietrich. They made their home in Iola for seven years before moving to Conway Springs where they lived for seventeen years. They returned to the Iola area in 1975. He worked as a self-employed carpenter for fifty years. Virgil was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Iola. SURVIVORS: His Wife: Marilyn Page of the home 3 Daughters: Arlene Gilliland & husband, Les of Colony, KS; Debbie Pauly & husband, Charlie of Conway Springs, KS; and Ramona Driskel of Iola, KS Son-In-Law: Dave Driskel of LaHarpe, KS 2 Brothers: Robert Page & wife, Donna of Conway Springs, KS; and Vernon Page & wife, Nora of LaHarpe, KS 11 Grandchildren & 3 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Dean Page, Jr., two sisters, Jeannie Langley and Donna Dietrich and grandson, Devin Dean Gilliland. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: The rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, followed by the mass at 11:00 a.m., both at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola. The Reverend Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant. Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Catholic Cemetery in Conway Springs MEMORIAL: The Virgil Page Memorial Fund Memorial gifts may be left at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
