Obituary of Floyd Moore
Floyd Eugene "Gene" Moore, 87, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola.
Gene was born October 10, 1923, in Humboldt, Kansas, the son of William Fred and Mary Estes (Collison) Moore. He grew up in Humboldt where he graduated from high school. Gene attended a year at Neosho County Junior College in Chanute before joining the United States Navy where he served in the Southern Pacific during World War II.
Gene married Hazel Lou Erickson in 1946 and they made their home in Emporia for most of their married lives. Hazel preceded him in death on December 5, 2002. He moved to Iola a few years later and on October 27, 2007, Gene married Norma Jewell (Morelan) Griffith at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola. They have made their home in Iola.
Gene was a retired clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad. His memberships include the Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola and the Masonic Lodge at Savonburg, Kansas. Woodworking was a hobby he enjoyed.

5 Grandchildren: Jaimey, Marcus, Derek, Benjamin and Matthew
3 Step-Grandchildren: Geoffrey, Rebecca and Ryan
2 Great Grandchildren and 1 Step Great Grandchild
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Hazel, and by a nephew, Brad Stroud.
Cremation has taken place.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola. The Rev. Trudy Kenyon Anderson will officiate.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service
INURNMENT: Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas
MEMORIAL CHOICES: Wesley United Methodist Church or Allen County Hospice
