Obituary of Mike Moran
Michael R. "Mike" Moran, 53, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013.
Mike was born December 3, 1959, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Richard and Marjorie (Fewins) Moran. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1977.
On June 9, 1984, Mike married Lori Baker at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Mike's faith grew through membership at Big Creek United Methodist Church and then at St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
Mike worked many years for Bill and Gene Reinhardt farms, Chanute and then for Haldex Brake Systems in Iola until it closed. At the time of his death, he was employed by Gates Rubber Co., Iola.
Mike's interests centered totally on his family. He did not miss one game or performance that his children participated in. With them, he shared a love of sports and was an avid follower of the Iola Mustangs/Fillies and the Kansas Jayhawks, offering his expertise from the stands or the couch.
Mike is survived by his wife, Lori; son Ryan; and daughter, Clarie of Iola; his parents, Marge and Paul Davis, Chanute and Richard Moran of El Dorado; grandmother, Gladys Fewins, Savonburg; sister, Marcia Gough & husband, Kevin, Chanute; brother, Jeff Moran & friend Karen Briggs, Coyville; step-siblings, Wes, Mike and Archie Grady, Darlene Schlegel & Regina Stephens; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Melvin & Doris Baker of Humboldt; brothers-in-law, Rick Baker, Fennimore, WI & Ron Baker & wife, Ellie, Iola; sister-in-law, Judy Kiehl & husband, Tom, Palatine, IL; and 9 nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Eric Neely; step-father Carl Grady; grandparents Bert Fewins, Elizabeth & John Moran, and several aunts & uncles.
VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt.
BURIAL: Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas
MEMORIAL CHOICES: Moran Children College Fund, St. Peter's Lutheran Church or Big Creek United Methodist Church
