McGhee family, words can not express how special my friendship with Duane & Dorothy is, we've shared love of family, friends & years of square dancing. Whenever we met, there was a warm smile, a hug and a kind word, they always had time to listen, they both made me feel like one of the family. Dorothy is 2nd cousin to my Dad, Otis Tippie. Keep on smiling. Teresa Tippie Crawshaw

Dear Dorothy & family, I was so sad to hear of Duane's passing. He was definitely an "icon" in our Indian Creek neighborhood in rural Colony. With love & prayers, Shelia & Glen Luedke

Gary and Barbara McIntosh posted a condolence

Gary and I had the pleasure of getting to know Duane more personally the last couple of years. He was at a few of the auctions we attended and would always offer Barbara his chair. Wayne knew she had trouble standing also. The three of us would then have a lengthy visit. We certainly will miss him as a neighbor, as the cherished husband of Dorothy and as a friend. We send our love to the family. Barbara and Gary

I worked with Duane at Gates until I left in 1990. He was one of my favorite people there. Ever the gentleman, and he was so considerate of everyone. He liked to comment on the articles I published in the Gates Newspaper, and he always had something positive to say. I'm sure he is going to be missed by many.

Dorothy & Family, I pray that the Lord will hold and comfort all of you during this time. We feel sorrow and joy at the same time by knowing Duane is no longer here on earth with us and will be terribly missed. We also know that Duane no longer feels pain and is in Heaven watching down on his family. Growing up as neighbors to your family made us more than friends--we are a country family!! Whenever I would see Dorothy & Duane, I was always greeted with a hug and a 'hows dad'? from Duane. He was Always concerned about his neighbors--even if he no longer lived on the farm. When one of us hurts, we all feel the pain. When there is joy, we praise God for it! Keep remembering the good times you shared together and the not-so-good days you helped each other through them surrounded by Gods love. Love, Cindy Smith Todd
