Obituary of Lorene Mann

Lola Lorene Mann, 89, of Moran, Kansas, died Friday, August 14, 2009, at Heritage Health Care in Chanute, Kansas. Lorene was born May 6, 1920, at Moran, the daughter of Arthur Glen and Martha Esther (Reynolds) Jackson. She grew up in the Mildred area and graduated from Mildred High School. She worked in the aviation plants in Wichita during World War II. On January 24, 1947, Lorene married Delbert F. Mann in Ft. Scott, Kansas. They made their home in the Mildred area where she worked as a cook for the Mildred schools. In 1959, the family moved to Moran where she worked for George Varner at his restaurant, for Gene Robertson at his grocery store and later as a cook for the Moran schools from which she retired. Delbert preceded her in death on May 1, 1982. Lorene was a member of the Moran United Methodist Church and the Moran American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking for the church and civic organizations in Moran and traveling with her sisters.
