Wilma Ruth McCully, 75, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, March 6, 2009, at Tara Gardens in Iola. Wilma was born January 29, 1934, in Lee County, Mississippi, the daughter of Jackson and Lizzie (Witt) Moore. She grew up in the Tupelo, Mississippi area. On September 1, 1950, Wilma married Douglas S. McCully in Tupelo. They made their home at Oxford, Mississippi, and Fort Scott, Kansas, before moving to Iola. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1998. Wilma was a homemaker and an avid gardner. She had also worked for Copening Jewelry in Iola for a number of years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iola. SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Steve McCully & wife, Virginia of Wichita, KS 1 Daughter: Vannesa Michael & husband, Jeff of Iola, KS 1 Brother: Mitchell Moore & wife, Christine of Tupelo, MS 5 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. FUNERAL: 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd Houk and Dr. Morris O'Dell will officiate. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
