Obituary of Thelma Manbeck
Thelma Marcha Manbeck, 96, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at Windsor Place in Iola.
She was born September 18, 1916, near Gravity, Iowa, to Charles and Hilma Cloyd. The family moved to the Moran, Kansas area in 1925.
Thelma married Everett (Bud) Manbeck on May 26, 1934. They lived and raised their children on a farm two miles east of LaHarpe, Kansas. After retirement they moved to LaHarpe. Everett died in April 1987. Others preceding Thelma in death were her parents, four brothers, three daughters: Dorothy Gilman, Lucille McClanahan and Carolyn McGuffin, and five grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons: Clyde Manbeck (Marilyn), Iola, KS and Richard Manbeck (Sherry) LaHarpe; five daughters: Mary Clay (Gerald) LeRoy, KS, Ida Andruss (Philip), Topeka, KS, Ruth Caudell (Sheldon) Colony, KS, Barbara Johnson (Allen) Palo Pinto, TX and Beth Prock, Colony, 47 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Thelma was a member of LaHarpe Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, where she served as president for several years.
VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
BURIAL: LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, Kansas
MEMORIAL CHOICES: American Cancer Society or Allen County Hospice
