I loved this old man. I didn't know his name was John; I just knew him as Denis' dad. I was around him on three different occasions when I was out in Kansas visiting Denis, including the time I went to Denis and Sirena's wedding. John was a man of the earth, and he could sum you up in about 2 seconds. I was pretty scared of him the first time I met him. Apparently he took a liking to me because he always gave me a gift before I headed back to Ohio. What he gave to me probably didn't mean much to him, but it meant the world to me. I will never part with those things.... because they were from him. I could listen to him and Denis tell stories all day,... and I did a couple of times. He was fearless, and kind. I am thankful I was lucky enough to get to know him. The vessel that held him here couldn't go on, but I know John is free now. He's found a new adventure. I hope to see him on the other side. May God's grace comfort the Lust family. I love you Denis.
