Obituary of Cleora Mabie

Cleora Belle (Beebe) Mabie, age 89, of Park City, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, at Presbyterian Manor in Newton, Kansas. Cleora was born December 31, 1923, in Ellsworth County, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Belle (Alcorn) Beebe. She grew up on the family farm in Ellsworth County until the family moved to the Geneva, Kansas area. In 1941, Cleora married Jesse C. Mabie and they made their home in Parsons, Kansas, until 1980. She moved to Fallbrook, California for several years before moving to Park City, Kansas twenty-five years ago. Cleora worked as a checker at Foodtown Supermarket before working as a unit secretary in hospitals in the communities where she resided. She was a member of the Kechi United Methodist Church. Survivors include her three children: Bill Mabie and wife, Mary of Greenville, South Carolina, Susan Mabie of Stuart, Florida and Sidney Mabie and wife, Pat of Park City, Kansas; two grandchildren, Molly Mabie of Maize, Kansas and Sarah Mabie Walker and husband, Jeremy of Chattanooga, Tennessee and one great-granddaughter, Kynlee Walker of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Lester Beebe and Harland Beebe. VISITATION AND GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, KS, before leaving for graveside services in the Geneva Cemetery at 11:00. MEMORIAL: Kansas Humane Society in Sedgwick County Memorials may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
