G. Leonard Leadstrom, Jr., 69, of Kincaid, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Leonard was born August 31, 1944, at Chanute, Kansas, the son of George Leonard and Rose Marie (Hanson) Leadstrom, Sr. He graduated from elementary school at Savonburg, Stark High School, Allen County Community College and Pittsburg State University. He farmed in the Savonburg area and was married to Helen Ellison. They later divorced. Besides farming he worked in the oil fields for Hudson Oil and then later for Kalmar Industries/Ottawa Truck before retiring. In 1999 he was reunited with Joan Dahl and they made their home in Kincaid. He was presently serving as mayor. He was a member of Friends Home Lutheran Church at Savonburg. SURVIVORS: His wife: Joan of the home 4 Sons: Gary Leadstrom & wife, Christie of Warrensburg, MO, Nathan Leadstrom & wife, Traci of Topeka, KS, Steven Leadstrom & son, Lucas of Hutchinson, KS, and Jonathan Leadstrom of Hutchinson, KS 2 Daughters: Carrie Smith & husband, Hank of Girard, KS, and Melissa Meyer & husband, Branden of Newton, KS 1 Step-Son: John Zentz & wife, Jennifer of Kansas City, MO 2 Step-Daughters: Jacqueline Zentz and Herb of Kincaid, KS and Toni Colburn-Bailey & husband, Ryan of Lawrence, KS 23 Grandchildren & 5 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Landon Leadstrom. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Friends Home Lutheran Church west of Savonburg, where the family will receive friends prior to the service.
