Obituary of Donald Jones

Donald Eugene "Don" Jones, 64, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, August 3, 2015, at Allen County Regional Hospital. Don was born January 28, 1951, in Iola, Kansas, the son of James Allen and Loretta Loraine ( Lee ) Jones. He was diagnosed with polio at the age of six but never let that hold him back throughout his life. Out of school, he worked for eight years at Thompson Poultry before going to work for Gates Rubber in Iola. His 36 years with Gates included eight years at a Gates plant in Red Bay, Alabama, from 1990 until 1998. He worked in quality control and was a quality assurance supervisor when he retired in 2012. Don married Donna Kincheloe and they were divorced. He enjoyed traveling, bow hunting, fishing, and shooting pool. Don was a member of the Iola Elks Club and in Alabama was active in the Lions Club. He married Hazel ( Jensen ) Rouse and she survives. SURVIVORS: Wife: Hazel 2 sons: Bryan Scott Jones and wife Emily of Emporia, and Mike Rouse and wife Dawn of Kingman 2 daughters: Kelly Rouse of Gas, and Lorena Wyant and husband George of Carlyle 4 brothers: Jimmy Lee Jones of Salina, Allen Jones of LaHarpe, Kenneth Jones of Iola, and William Jones of Gas 3 sisters: Janice Trester of Gas, Mary Ann Cooper of Iola, and Viola Boeck of Colony 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren Don was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Sue Ahne VISITATION: 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 7th, 2015, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel SERVICES: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 8th, 2015, at the Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow the services. MEMORIALS: Allen County Animal Rescue Facility and they can be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel.
