Obituary of Melva Lee

Melva L. Lee, 96, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at the Allen County Regional Hospital. Melva was born June 4, 1917, on a farm east of Paola, Kansas, the daughter of Earnest F. and Johanna (Libutzky) Bergman. She grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School and Iola Junior College. On January 28, 1938, Melva married George W. Lee and they made their home in Iola. She joined the Methodist Church at the age of twelve and was involved in the church's activities and groups throughout the years. Organizations she had belonged to included the Jefferson P.T.A., Harmony Homemakers, Current Events Club and a bridge club. Melva and George enjoyed camping and belonged to the Trailhounds and '76 Wheelers. She also worked several years as a secretary for the Ralph Moser Agency. George preceded her in death December 30, 2006. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
