Obituary of Charles Johnson
Charles Alan Johnson, 60, of Gas, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at his home.
Charles was born May 15, 1952, in Iola, Kansas, the son of William Orin and Lavon (Kinman) Johnson. He grew up in Iola, graduated from Iola High School in 1970, and attended Allen County Junior College.
On December 29, 1973, Charles married Roberta L. Varvel at Aliceville, Kansas. They made their home in Iola a year before moving to Gas. They own and operate Johnson Construction, Inc. In 1997, they purchased Skidmore's Davis Paint and operate it as Home Detail.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iola, and enjoyed working in his church and serving as a trustee for years. Charles also enjoyed motorcycles and belonged to the Christian Motorcyclists Association, Patriot Guard and American Legion Riders. Music was another interest of his and he played the violin in the Iola Area Symphony Orchestra and in the pit orchestra for community theater productions.

5 Grandchildren: Gabi, Alex, Amelia, Isaac and Logan
He was preceded in death by his father, William "Orin" Johnson, in 2010.
VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Iola.
BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas
