Virginia will be missed. She was such a strong 4-H leader and Extension supporter for so many years. I enjoyed talking with Virginia in later years. As a new Extension Agent in Anderson County, I learned not to schedule 4-H activities during the Richmond Fair! My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.

Mrs C. was a great math teacher and an even better person. She was one of the reasons I wanted to go to college to be a math instructor. She will be sadly missed by many including the Richmond community and her beloved 4-H Clubs.

Virginia was a legend! She was my 8th grade math teacher and also my PE teacher while I attended Junior High. I can still recall all of her stories that she told us during math hour! She will be missed and she definitely left a lasting impression that I carry with me to this day! Gloria Neal High

Kenneth and Virginia were dear friends of mine. Virginia called me when Kenneth had to go to the Nursing Home and asked me if I would pick him up at the hospital and take him there. I do not know whose heart was broken more that day his, hers or mine. They asked us several times to move to there farm home and live there when they got the new home years ago. I told them as much as I loved them i could not live with them.. I kept their beloved dog "Irish" when they had to go to the hosptial or wherever he could not go. Finally they are both at peace and together again. God Bless you both until we meet again..

Virginia will certainly be remembered as the "Lady of Richmond". She was a diligent scorekeeper for all the basketball games that my Dad, Gene Bump, coached. She was a wonderful 4-H club leader, and along with her Dad, she provided many wonderful memories with parades, shetland ponies and volunteer work to the children and families of Richmond. Her spirit and unending, genuine "love of life" will be missed.

So saddened to hear of Mrs. Cunninghams passing, she was my math and PE teacher as well at Irving Junior High, many memories of her classes: learning to play Krypto(which I think I still have the card deck) , being in class when somebody uttered the word that we have learned the meaning of in Mrs. Byalls class and the whole class getting in trouble-- oh my. And then PE, good gravy she would test us- one time in PE bunch of us girls sneaked out of the window in the gym(the boys shop class was right out the window to the south, and getting caught- and those little 4 wheel scooter things(kind of like a skateboard) that we tried to use in the halls-we got caught, she had a way of catching us every time, but all in all she still loved all of us! She certainly touched a lot of childrens lives and certainly made an impression on mine. I am sure she is stirring something up in heaven right now-

Mrs. Cunningham was my 8th grade math and 7th & 8th PE teacher also, she had a gift and a love for teaching that made her students want to learn. In later years it amazed me that she could remember most of her students by name and some real doosie of stories too. My husband and his family were just playing Krypto the other day and said that they remembered learning it in her class. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to be her students!

I too had Mrs. Cunningham for 7th and 8th grade. Her and Kenneth also owned a pasture next to our land so faintly knew her all my life.
But a few years ago mama was in the Richmond nursing home when Mrs. Cunningham was in there and I would often stop in the halls to chat with her. She taught me one special thing that Spring that I will always be grateful for.

Mrs. Cunningham was my math and PE teacher at Irving. I loved going to her PE class. She inspired healthy competition. In the classroom she REQUIRED your best, or else. I found it much easier just to do my best (grin). Whenever we met out and about after my school years she always had a smile and a funny story to tell. Yep. One of kind lady. She will be missed.

Of all my aunts, Aunt Gin was the one with which I most identified. She was the one with whom I shared the passion for animals and for the outdoors. We spoke the same language. I am so regretful that I cannot be at the service tomorrow...but my heart will be there...indeed, part of my heart will ALWAYS be with Gin and Ken and that lovely old farm. I was the little kid, the one running on chubby short legs, after all the other nieces and nephews to see the new lamb, the baby chicks, or to "help" milk the cows...and she always waited for me to catch up. To the world, I am Nancy...but to her I always was "Pete". I am so thankful for the golden memories, Gin. Love you, Nancy Pete

WOW! All of us who had Mrs. Cunningham at Irving remembering her to this day! We have lost a great one - she was the teacher of all teachers. So strange that I just was thinking of her the other day and after all these years. Tells you how much of an influence she had on all the lives she touched - and there were many!! To my surprise I never knew one of those kids she took in was my uncle! Never knew that. No doubt she is stirring up things in heaven right now. Thanks for all you taught me!! RIP

My mother asked me to write my fond memories of summers at Aunt Gin and Uncle Ken's years ago but I allowed time to pass by with out getting it done. Now I just found this site, I had no idea existed.
My bed at Aunt Gin's each summer was off of the laundry room and kitchen with the whitest linens and the most amazing summer scents. The windows were always open and the light curtains would allow the best breezes in the world to come in and relax me.
I could lay there all day but Aunt Gin would come in and change the smells into bacon frying and coffee brewing saying get up, make your bed and lets see what all's going on outside. Once dad had to come and get me early because I was riding on the tractor with Uncle Ken mowing Hay and I got so stopped up with allergy I couldn't breathe. Dan got to stay but I had to go home, Aunt Gin said if I sneezed one more time I was going to blow my head off and she didn't want to see that happen. :)She is Oh so alive in my Mortenson childhood memories that I affectionately keep with me.Thank you for the memories!
